Sprint has a little holiday gift for those that own an HTC EVO View 4G tablet. This year, you will be getting the Android Honeycomb update. Sprint’s support page has been updated to reflect this information regarding the update for the WIMAX enabled tablet. One feature that stands out is the “new virtual and holographic user interface”. The update was officially released the 22nd of December, so only a couple of days ago, but some customers reported they were able to download the update file before that. The download can be done “over-the-air” as well by checking for an update via the HTC software update option.
The 217MB download comes packed with all sorts of fixes and features. Sprint made an announcement about the update all the way back in April of this year. Getting the update on your tablet is not a difficult task, but be aware that your home screen will be set back to its original layout. Most tablet users would not have an issue with that in trade for an updated operating system. One of the main fixes comes for Google video chat feature and the other is making Bluetooth available when you put your tablet into “airplane mode”.
The update will also add features to your HTC EVO View 4G tablet. Those include new Google Search, which is now available on every page. Taking away the physical keys and replacing them with screen Soft keys. Newly Enhanced security including 3LM and Sprint Data Link software is also included. A new system bar, which includes the notifications, gives you quick access to your phone status as well. The soft navigation buttons are located at the bottom of the screen. An action bar that can be accessed by tapping the Plus icon on the top will be the menu you use for each application that is running.
The HTC EVO View 4G, which weighs less than one pound, was released with a 7-inch display with a 1024×600 resolution, and includes features like Wi-Fi, Blockbuster on Demand, HTC Sense technology, Google mobile services and GPS navigation. The tablet also has a 5MP auto-focusing camera with LED flash that can take video in 720p HD quality. For about $400 you can get the HTC EVO View 4G tablet from Sprint and that includes a new two-year mobile contract.
